Privacy Policy
How MyCVPDF handles your account information, CV content, payments and privacy choices.
Last updated: 28 September 2026
1. Who we are and how to contact us
MyCVPDF provides an online CV-building service. Our operator and legal contact details are displayed at the end of this policy. Please use those details for privacy questions, requests to exercise your rights and data protection complaints. This policy covers information processed through the MyCVPDF website and your account.
2. Information we collect
We process the account details you provide, including your username, email address and display name, together with account security information, membership status and support correspondence. We also process the CV details, saved CV details and optional profile image you choose to provide. CV content can include contact information, work and education history, skills, references and other information about you or people you name.
We collect limited information needed to run and protect the service, such as IP address, browser or device information and sign-in activity. If you subscribe, we also receive the payment status, plan and billing records needed to manage your subscription.
3. Why we use this information
We use account and CV information to provide your workspace, generate previews and make PDF and PNG downloads available to eligible Pro accounts. Contract performance is our legal basis for these activities. We use billing records to manage subscriptions and comply with applicable accounting and legal obligations. We use limited usage and security information to keep the service reliable and protect accounts, where our legitimate interests do not override your rights. Where a particular activity requires consent, we ask for it separately.
4. CV files, images and access
Your saved CVs and reusable details are associated with your account. Uploaded profile pictures are prepared for use in your CV. Your saved CV versions remain private in your account. Generated PDF and PNG delivery files are available temporarily for up to one hour and are then removed from the server; you can regenerate an earlier saved version while subscribed to Pro. Changing a working CV does not alter an earlier saved version. You should only include another person's information, such as a reference's contact details, when you have a lawful reason to do so.
5. Payments and service providers
Paid membership checkout is handled through the payment service presented at checkout, currently PayPal. The payment service handles payment details. MyCVPDF does not store complete card numbers or card security codes. We receive information needed to confirm payments, manage recurring billing and respond to payment disputes.
To provide the service, relevant information may be processed by companies helping us host the website, protect accounts, take payments, send emails and preserve information. We share only what is necessary for their function or where disclosure is required by law. Provider arrangements and locations can change; if personal information is transferred internationally, the transfer must be protected as required by applicable data protection law.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
Essential cookies support sign-in, account security, checkout and essential website functions. Third-party checkout services may use their own cookies on their sites. Any optional analytics or other non-essential technology must be separately disclosed and, where required, used only with appropriate consent.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account and editable CV data while needed to operate your account and provide the features you use. If an account or CV is deleted, we remove information from active use where appropriate, subject to legal obligations, security needs, disputes and routine backups. PDF and PNG delivery files are temporary: access ends after one hour and automatic cleanup removes the files; saved CV-version data is retained separately. Support correspondence and security records are retained only as needed for their relevant purpose; payment and accounting records may need to be kept for the applicable statutory period. We review these categories and do not keep personal information indefinitely solely because it was collected.
8. Your rights and choices
You can edit your working CV and reusable details in your account. Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction, deletion or portability of personal information, restriction of or objection to processing, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis. Some requests may be limited where we must retain records for legal reasons. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Send privacy requests or complaints using the operator contact details below.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Information about complaints is available at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. We encourage you to contact us so we can investigate your concern directly.
9. Security and policy updates
We use access controls and other safeguards to protect account information, CVs and export files. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy when our service or legal requirements change; the published date will be updated, and material changes will be communicated where required.
